Isn't It Annoying?

December 09, 2015

Isn’t it annoying when you only signed up for rewards cards at the store then the next day you are getting hundreds of emails and phone calls everyday? Well, that’s what I am getting for what I signed up for; phone calls and unwanted emails. Its not a big deal as I already unsubscribed to all the rewards membership I have signed up for online. Besides, I do not need any updates on the latest trends on clothes or shoes as I buy what makes me feel comfortable.

Also, shopping can be frustrating when you want to buy clothes or shoes and it is not available on my size. As for the coupons who doesn’t like getting them in the mail specially from JCPenney? Getting freebies when you spend $10 or more on $10 off is like the greatest thing of all. As for my coupon, I had bath towels last Sunday, and it was free.

Anyway, I got my order from Victoria’s Secret today, a little disappointed when I saw the package as it was the very opposite when you purchase at the store. I am not satisfied with my orders so I am going to return the item once the other order arrives in the mail. When I ordered online I purchased 2 items and only 1 showed up today, not good!

Cozy Winters

As winter grips the country it is important that you keep yourself, your family and even your family’s pets warm. Sure things like coats, gloves, scarves and comforters help but other things are available that you may not know of. Cozy Winters produces all kinds of heated products for almost any application you can think of.  My favorites are the products available for your pets as they really need our help in the extreme weather coming up the next couple of months.

I Kept Eating The Food

December 04, 2015

Have you ever make yourself sick while eating? Well, it happened last week when we ate at Acambaros. I knew I was full yet I kept eating the food in front me so when I went into the car I felt like I am going to vomit. What a waste isn’t it? The food was very delicious so I overindulged myself.

Buffalo Spring Rolls, Copelands of New Orleans

California Rolls, Korean Restaurant

Steak & Shrimp Kabobs, Acambaros

Shrimp Kabobs, Mojitos

While I consider myself a foodie we also tried a Korean restaurant. The sushi and California rolls were very delicious though my entrée was a disappointment to say the least.

Mama, How Many Days Until My Birthday?

September 07, 2015

Only two weeks away before my son’s 7th birthday. But oh my! I hear these questions a bunch of time each day, Mama how many days until my birthday? Are you excited for my birthday? Yes, I am excited baby, why? I guess with all the birthday gifts that he is getting on his birthday its hard not to be excited each and every day. Not only his birthday he is also getting excited for the holidays to come. While shopping around at Barnes & Noble, the other day he kept on pointing out Lego boxes these are what I want from Santa. Hmmm I told him I don’t think so; that’s quite expensive for Santa to be buying all the Lego’s you really want from him.

As for his 7th birthday, I am not going to cook anything as he wants to eat at MacDonald’s, his favorite restaurant of all time. With the best fries they have it is really hard not to love MacDonald’s and so do I, I love their fries. With a new WHATABURGER, just recently opened we are all delighted Charles likes their cheeseburgers and fries so this place is also a contender. We could take his aunts when they visited for his birthday. WHATABURGER burgers taste really good though I still love Sonic onion rings compared to WHATABURGER onion rings, just saying.

Hopefully the weather would still be great within the next two weeks since playing put-put golf and go karts are on his birthday lists to do and bowling as well. Definitely, this is going to be fun and exciting for everybody when his birthday comes. I wrapped some of his presents the looked on his happy face is so priceless thinking about what he’s getting. Well, it has been gorgeous weather here in Northwest Arkansas. The temperature is not too hot that everyone could enjoy being outside watching football games. With Fall just around the corner this time of the year is one of my favorite seasons of the year. The trees just starting to change the colors of their leaves before we know it Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day, to be celebrated with family and friends.

I Was Just Ecstatic :)

August 03, 2015

Just seeing produce like jackfruit, bananas and long beans (sitaw) at A’Chau Oriental Market, put a smile on my face. Why wouldn’t it? Jackfruit is my all time favorite vegetable next to long beans (sitaw) and the long beans looked the same as what we grow in our backyard. I was just ecstatic so I bought them and had it for my dinner with dried fish of course. That just made my night wonderful as I was overly stuffed since I never put myself on any diets.

Jackfruit (Langka)

Long Beans (Sitaw)

Eating foods that I used to eat growing up is all I want even when I live here in the U.S. And why not? It tastes delicious as any other foods here in the U.S., the second plate is a proof to that even over prime rib. Well it depends on time or day on how mouthwatering the food looks in front of me.

I Hardly Update My Facebook

July 13, 2015

I can not believe it took me this long to update any of my blogs. Well, not only my blogs but Facebook as well since I deleted all that I’ve posted. I noticed there was something wrong with my Facebook account when I opened it on our desktop. Right click, view page source, there you could see html codes once you open your account on the desktop. Understanding these codes are very difficult and confusing as I don’t know any of these plus looking at those codes makes me dizzy.

As I scrolled down the page I noticed someone is using my account for Facebook related ads. When I read the transcript it looked like the person is having a problem with the transactions using my account. Of course, I wondered how could this happen when someone is making money out of another persons account? Generated ads can make someone hundreds of dollars without their knowledge, sucks I am one of those victims.

But as you noticed I hardly update my Facebook account before I deleted my previous posts. Most of the times I’d rather keep it to my self instead of posting on social media unlike most people I know of. To me you don’t need to change your profile picture every two days when you just changed it with the same picture just days ago. I know its your account you can do whatever the heck you want but come on don’t you feel sorry for yourself? Hey, its okay, just kidding! Not being safe on the web is being cautious what to say and share on social media.

It's Time For Me To Quit Watching Chopped

May 19, 2015

I have been a huge fan of Chopped, on Food Network since I can remember. I started watching the show years ago. The way I see it now, it can be annoying the way the judges/critics of the contestants judge the food. When a contestant doesn’t put enough food on the plate it is not good enough to be an appetizer, entrée or dessert.

When it has too much food on the plate they’ll complain it is too much. When can they agree altogether as long as the food tastes really good and not by judging how much that’s on the plate? You can judge the food by not criticizing like an asshole. Like Maneet Chauhan, competed in the Chopped All Stars, she didn’t even make it to the entrée round got chopped on the first round.

But when she judges on Chopped, she thinks she’s better than anybody else. Same with these judges: Alex Guarnaschelli, Aaron Sanchez, Chris Santos, Scott Conant and Marc Murphy. Maybe it’s time for me to quit watching Chopped, on Food Network, just like with what I did with Real Housewives of Atlanta and Shahs of Sunset. Not watching these shows are not missed at all.

Already Bought The Tickets

May 14, 2015

A few days ago, Doug, told me he was thinking about us going to watch an Indy Car race, at the Texas Motor Speedway. That being said, I was contemplating whether we should go or not as I am thinking about a 6 hours drive on the road just to see the race. Well, last night, I just went to bed for a couple minutes and when I got up he told me he already bought the tickets, got our hotel room reserved.

My hubby would be willing to drive rain or shine just to watch a game or race which I don’t necessarily like to do. He always calls me a wimp which I’m not!  I just don’t like going to places and doing things that I don’t really like especially now with my migraines and allergies. I really like racing I am just worried about the long drive.

Anyway, Charles,’ Kindergarten End of Year Celebration, is on May 26, and last day of school is on May 29. I cannot believe he’ll be in First Grade already. Time flies very fast which is a good thing and getting up each day has been very difficult for me especially when I don’t feel like getting up but I have to. Well, summer is just around the corner. What are your plans for the summer?

For us, my son, Charles, is going to visit his aunt Connie, to do his summer lists which sounds fun. Though this would be interesting for the three of us being away from each other but I think Charles will enjoy himself without us.

Finally, I Saw Their Team Win

May 03, 2015

With a big weekend in sports history which sports did you watch? From Kentucky Derby, NBA Playoffs, NASCAR Xfinity, NHL, MLB, NFL Draft, and Boxing, you probably were glued to television watching one of these sports. As for me, I only watched a few minutes of the Kentucky Derby, and never watched other sports mentioned above. Probably, you’ll say to me, how could I have not watch boxing? Well, I am not really a super-fan of boxing and I don’t want to spend a dime by watching the fight on Pay Per View. Tried to watched it online, but with so many ads popping up every second it was so annoying so I decided to go to bed it was already late at night.

Anyway, I have mentioned on my blogs that my son, Charles, is playing soccer. Finally, I saw their team win yesterday, 9-4. Charles, made 4 goals and 1 goal hit the post which doesn’t count. Just made this mama so proud and so was Charles, and Doug. As always, the coach was late and the game has already started before he arrived, thanks to his assistant who’s always there for the team. At least tomorrow is their last practice and Tuesday, is their last game at 6 o’clock. Hopefully the team can win on their last game. Also, this week is Charles’, Gentry Safari Field Trip, and we are both looking forward to that.

The Guitar Center

So if you are serious about your electric guitar and want to really be heard you need not just a great guitar and amp, you also need other accessories. One of the most important of those is a good preamp. The guitar center is a great place to find a great line of Focusrite preamps that are sure to fill and satisfy all your needs.

My Soccer Player

April 25, 2015

Charles has played most of the soccer games since they have started. As a mom, I am very proud of him especially when he scores a goal. Screaming from the bench, sitting up and down like a crazy mom makes myself nervous and excited at the same time. When Charles gets the ball I am going crazy. Hey! It’s my baby. Soccer is fun and an exciting game to watch. Charles likes most of the sports he has watched except for baseball. Though I also have some frustrations with their coach the way he handles his job with the team. Use a whistle during practice, don’t just let the kids keep on kicking the ball far away from the goal. And on their very first game the coach was late which is kind of annoying. When you’re taking your job seriously, you have to be there early for the team. Show the team how dedicated and competitive you are in winning every game and don’t show up when the game is almost over. Just like this morning, the coach was 25 minutes late. The game was supposed to starts at 10 o’clock and where was he? Thank goodness he has his volunteer coach who seems more interested in doing her job than the coach. She is always there in every game and practice. If not for her surely, the team is going to miss most of their practices and forfeit 2 games because he‘s late and not around.

Anyway, I got Charles’ soccer picture today. Oh my goodness! My son, is looking so handsome on his solo picture with a smile on his face I couldn’t be more proud of him. He doesn’t like picture taking so its good to have a good photo of him.

Spring has Sprung

April 03, 2015

It’s the best time of the year, Spring has sprung. April showers brings May flowers, the temperature is getting warmer as the day goes by. The trees are growing their leaves, flowers are blooming, and the birds are chirping in the morning. Before we know it, summer will be here. While enjoying the weather I took some photos of the trees and flowers as I thought they are pretty to look at. I’ll be eight years here in the United States, yet I am still fascinated how pretty the trees looks like in the Spring, and in the Fall. Back home, everything is green as we only have two season in the year, wet and dry season. The four seasons here in the United States, are enjoyable and make for an exciting year.

Pancit and Steamed Cake (Puto)

March 06, 2015

My grandmother makes delicious steamed cake (puto) and I really miss eating those tiny steamed cakes (puto). They are simply the best every time my grandmother makes them especially when it is made of rice instead of flour. Well, it has been a long time that I have not eaten my grandmother’s steamed cake and I was really craving to eat one.

Steamed Cake (Puto)

Steamed Cake (Puto) & Pancit

While I still have left-over, pancit why not make steamed cake? Pancit and steamed cake (puto) are really a good combo. But sorry! I cannot share you my recipe as I only eyeballing the ingredients. That’s how I cook. Hmmm craving solved!

My Pancit and Menudo

March 01, 2015

We’ve been eating out lately but I always miss eating the dishes that I used to eat in the Philippines. Last week, I was excited when I saw the meat at Wal-Mart that has fat in it so I thought it would be good to make menudo and pancit. These are the dishes that we used to eat in the Philippines and I always make sure to have them in my fridge specially I am the only one during the day.

Gulaman or Gelatin

Warming leftovers are good and perfect when I don’t feel like cooking other dishes. How I wish my son, Charles would try to eat pancit, or menudo and see if he will like it or not just like adobo as his favorite. Though he only likes chicken wings no other meat at all.

What a Gorgeous Day

February 08, 2015

What a gorgeous day we have had over the last two days now. It feels like spring weather already. The temperature was in the 60’s so we decided to wash the car which Charles, really enjoyed helping out doing. Yesterday, was a lovely day as well. Charles, and I, went shopping at Pinnacle Hills Promenade, while Doug, was gone for the wrestling tournament. Oh my goodness! I have not seen the parking lot as full of cars parked all around and people walking by just enjoying the beautiful weather like we were.

Charles favorite, Chicken Lo Mein
Charles' eating Lo Mein
As we walked around I saw 2 different cars coming our way though I never knew what cars are those so I told Charles, look! I thought it was very cool then Charles said; its Lamborghini (orange and black). He really knows all cars, which is pretty good for a 6 year old kid. When you have hundreds of cars in your collection you really know anything about cars. After I shopped, Charles, wanted to eat noodles but his favorite place has already closed inside the food court so we went to P.F. Chang’s.

Pepper Steak

While waiting for our food Charles, said: after all the hard work of shopping we deserved food, right mama? He just made my day laughing. He also said: he wants to have a baby brother or sister so the baby could help him pick up his toys because he is tired. Well, Charles has already planned what’s going to be the baby’s job once there’s another baby on the way. Just like when I told him, you’re going to sleep in your bedroom when we have a baby.

Though Charles planned the baby can sleep in his bed so he could sleep in our bed, or move his bed into our bedroom which is a smart idea of him to think of (backup plan). Before, he doesn’t like the idea every time I say; I am going to have another baby and he always say, no I guess he‘s ready now to be a big brother. When the food arrived Charles was confident enough to use the chopsticks when eating his favorite Chicken Lo Mein, while I had Pepper Steak.

Mussels with Fennel

January 29, 2015

I have always been a fan of Top Chef, on Bravo. I have liked it as long as I can remember well at least since I came here to the United States of America. Seeing Padma Lakshmi, as one of the judges on the show is very interesting, and most of all I think she is beautiful. My eyes do not get tired of watching her on the show, simple yet stunning to look at. Being a huge fan of her of course I’m following her on Twitter. So when she posted a picture through Instagram, of mussels, hmmm I thought it looked delicious. Though she used fennels and I had no idea what fennel taste like. I’m only used to using ginger and white wine when I cook mussels. Tonight, I cooked mussels for my dinner instead of eating leftover pizza, or calzone from Mellow Mushroom. Well, when Padma, posted the photo it has no measurements of ingredients so I just made it on my own.

Mussels with fennel

2 tbsp olive oil
2 lbs mussels
1 bulb fennel
2 tomatoes
1 onion
1 clove garlic

I preheat the pan. Add the oil, garlic, onions, tomatoes, and fennel until translucent. Add the mussels and cook for about 8 minutes with the lid on. Season with salt, and a pinch of msg. Serve with rice, and it tasted really good. Mussels is a boring dish but you can make it scrumptious. Serve as an appetizer with shredded parmesan, or cheddar cheese and cook in the oven for about 10 minutes at 400 degrees.
